Last year we released our innaugural State of Webhooks report to better understand how often webhooks are adopted by top API companies, what best practices are implemented most/least often, and the impact of implementing those best practices. This year we wanted to update our research to see if any progress has been made and to expand our analysis to look specifically at startups and to analyze companies in the specific verticals of Fintech, Developer Tools, and AI. To generate the report, we looked first at the same 100 API companies as last year's report and conducted the exact same analysis and simply compared the results. We're happy to report that adoption of webhooks generally and best practices are up across the board. There were a few companies that launched new fully featured webhook services and also several who made updates to existing systems.
To super charge this year's report we decided to add ~150 companies from startup lists (Forbes Fintech 50, Forbes AI 50, and Failory's top 59 Developer Tool Startups) to our analysis to get a better idea of adoption rates across a broader group of companies.
